Another Audition

I have a number of things I think about when I audition...my mom has coached me and
these are things she took from her acting days. When you do your lines... you should
not be thinking about how nervous you are, if the director likes you or if you said that
right or wrong... the only thing you should be thinking about is the words you are
saying.... if you concentrate on the words and that is the only thing you are thinking
about... and you deliver those the best you can...who cares what anyone else may
think.... if you worry about all that, you are not going to enjoy the experience. If
you get all caught up then you are not doing the best you can... so go and do your
best and don't think about it anymore. There is really nothing you can do at that point.

Here is something to think about. Your headshot will get you the audition... if you
are not getting calls to audition, then look at your headshot, it may be the problem.

If your headshot gets you the audition, it is your attitude and personality that gets
you the part... it is NOT the audition, it is YOU. You can go in and nail the audition
and be perfect through it all, but if you are too short or if you are not the right type,
you are not going to get the part. Has really nothing to do with how you do....there
is alot of talent out there.... but if you have the look that casting director, or
producer, or director is looking for, you can get the part, even if you may screw up
something in an audition. If you screw up a line or deliver it not the way they vision
it, they will ask you to do it a different way. Can you do this showing anger, or can
you do this showing fear. No big deal. Will they not cast you if you do it different the
first time? Of course not, sometimes they like to see what you are going do with the
role.

I have been told I have alot of talent, but looked too old for the part, or was not
right for the part but would consider for future projects.

I have signed up here since March. I have had 5 or 6 auditions, 2 call backs, 2 parts
casted in films...one a lead role, and one a small featured role. I have just been
signed on by an agent as of this week... in 2 months. I have no acting lessons, no
big headshot package. Went to the photographer in the mall and got 2 headshots
taken. My agent said I looked too old in the headshots, and wants some taken w/o
my hair slicked back...just mussed up. Take this info and use it. So I am going in
to get some full body shots for a comp card...my agent is more into the photo model
and commercial end... but it will get me some experience. My 2 movies come out
next year for the Festival circuit, and hopefully they will get some attention.

Until then, we will see .... oh yeah, I have another audition this Saturday. I did not
even submit to it, they contacted me from seeing my picture on a webpage. This is the
second one I got this way.

Good luck everyone, I am on my way!

Justin
